As with previous championships
in Japan, players were treated very generously. Every evening
we had gorgeous food in Incheons's finest restaurants. Vegetarians,
however, suffered. We had either Bulgoggi (sliced meat) or Kalbi
(sliced meat) and on the last day we had sliced meat to be wrapped
in salad leaves. Since I like meat, I had no problem with Korean
food, but at one occasion I tried the raw green pepper, which
was served as a side dish and spent the rest of the meal getting
rid of the burning in my mouth. The next time I stayed content
with Kimchi, which now tasted very mild.
We also saw various performances of Korean drummers, a Chinese
Light Show just in front of Munhak Stadium, and had a one day
trip to Seoul. But most of our "leisure time" we spent either
eating or on the bus.
